Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of communications and Information Technology, received a delegation from Vodafone Global Smart Solutions Group headed by Mr. Scott Beatty, president of Vodafone Smart Solutions Group and head of technology sector for Vodafone Global Smart Solutions Group, Mr. Pedro Sardo, executive director of technology sector for Vodafone Global Smart Solutions Group, and Mrs. Rania Salah, CEO of Vodafone Smart Solutions Egypt, to discuss the company’s expansion plans in Egypt.
The meeting was attended by Engineer/ Ahmed Al-Zaher, CEO of the Information Technology Industry Development Authority “ITIDA”, engineer / Mohamed Samy, head of technology sector for Vodafone Smart Solutions, and Mr. Tony Samy, head of External Relations for Vodafone Smart Solutions Egypt.
During the meeting, Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of communications and Information Technology, welcomed Vodafone Smart Solutions Egypt’s plan to expand its business in the governorates; stressing the state’s interest in creating a supportive business environment for investment in Information Technology and encouraging international companies to establish centers in Egypt to export digital services, which contributes to the creation of dense and diverse job opportunities for young people and the development of Egypt’s digital exports; pointing out that within the framework of Egypt’s digital strategy for the development of the outsourcing industry, the Ministry of communications and information technology is keen to motivate companies to invest in exporting outsourcing services from the governorates and adopting a remote work system by developing In addition to expanding the launch of training programs and initiatives aimed at developing the capabilities of young people from all governorates in various technological specialties and building an integrated matrix of skills to qualify them to work in the outsourcing industry, whether by joining one of the companies specialized in this industry within their governorates, or working from their places remotely for the benefit of these companies; adding that the young Egyptian competencies have proven their worth in providing outsourcing services to customers in various countries of the world.
Scott Beatty, president of Vodafone Smart Solutions Group and head of technology for Vodafone Global Group, said that Egyptian human resources have tremendous and distinctive potential, which pushes the company to further expand within the Egyptian market. In addition to the continuous development and support of the ministry in various technological sectors and close cooperation with the Information Technology Industry Development Authority in preparing and qualifying effective cadres in the global market, he explained that Vodafone Smart Solutions Group will expand and develop the services currently provided to include newer and more advanced aspects to keep pace with international technology and its various and accelerated applications, besides being the strategic arm of Vodafone Global Group to enhance efficiency and quality, which will be reflected positively to create more job opportunities inside Egypt and attract more businesses and projects to the company and therefore to the Egyptian market.
For his part, Eng/ Ahmed Al-Zaher, CEO of the Information Technology Industry Development Authority “ITIDA”, explained that the authority is working closely with international technology companies operating in Egypt in order to meet their needs, which helps them expand their operations, especially related to the export of cross-border services and encourages them to inject more foreign investments. Al-Zaher pointed out that Vodafone Smart Solutions is one of the outstanding success stories and an ideal model for the fruitful partnership between the authority and international companies, adding that the company is distinguished by the diversity of outsourcing services that it exports from its centers in Cairo, Alexandria and other governorates with the remote work system, which provides many job opportunities for Egyptian youth.
For her part, Mrs. Rania Salah, CEO of Vodafone Smart Solutions Egypt, confirmed that the volume of expansion is expected to be 15% per annum after the expected development of the company and the opening of areas of cooperation and business with multiple partners from various governmental and non-governmental sectors. She stressed that the Egyptian cadres are characterized by the required efficiency to attract more businesses and projects to the company, pointing out that the number of employees of the company in Egypt reached more than 9000 employees, including about 700 employees working remotely in various governorates of the Republic in the Delta, Upper Egypt and Alexandria governorate.
