Nigeria settles its bills and addresses gas shortages as part of a plan to solve its electrical issues

ABUJA: Africas, Rueters

According to the power minister, Nigeria intends to resolve its ongoing power problems by paying off its outstanding obligations to energy producers, which total approximately $2.16 billion, and addressing the scarcity of gas supply to producing companies.

With 12,500 megawatts of installed capacity, but only producing approximately 25% of that, the largest economy in Africa forces businesses and households, including factories, to rely on generators that run on petrol and diesel.
