Egypt’s national team includes Mohamed Salah despite Liverpool’s request to exempt him due to injury

The coaching staff of the Egypt national football team announced on Saturday the inclusion of international star, Mohamed Salah, in the camp for the month of March, despite the request of his English club, Liverpool, to exempt him due to injury.


Salah will be on the march camp roster along with 6 other players, namely Ahmed Hijazi from the Saudi club Jeddah Union, Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet from the Turkish club Trabzonspor, Hamdi Fathi from the Qatari club Al Wakra, Mustafa Mohammed from the French club Nantes, Omar marmoush from Eintracht Frankfurt and Mohammed Sharif from the Saudi Arabian club Al Khaleej, according to an official statement from the Egyptian Football Federation.


The statement added that the Egyptian national team “will play a friendly against the New Zealand national team on March 22 in the UAE, with the winner of which will face the winner of the match between Tunisia and Croatia”.

The Egyptian Football Federation has received an official letter from Liverpool FC in order to exempt Mohamed Salah from the national team camp for the month of March due to injury.

But the Federation’s response to Liverpool’s request was that it has the right to call any professional player, as long as there is an international agenda period, and confirmed that the question of whether to call Mohamed Salah or not is in the hands of the technical staff led by captain Hossam Hassan.


The Egyptian Football Federation pointed out that it is still too early to decide on the inclusion of Mohamed Salah in the camp of the Egyptian national football team for the month of March, indicating that if Mohamed Salah plays any match at the moment with Liverpool before the start of the Pharaohs camp, his accession will be upheld, and he will undergo a medical examination by the medical system of the national team, in order to determine his readiness to play.


Last month, Jurgen Klopp, the head coach of the English Liverpool team, confirmed the absence of Egyptian star Mohamed Salah from the FA Cup final against Chelsea, due to his continued suffering from injury.


Salah suffered a back muscle injury during the match between Egypt and Ghana in the group stage of the African Cup of nations, which caused a big stir after the Egyptian Football Federation announced that the captain of the Pharaohs, Mohamed Salah, will travel to England to follow up treatment.
