Egypt welcomes the African Union’s approval of Khaled El-Anany’s nomination for the position of Director-General of UNESCO

In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Arab Republic of Egypt welcomed the decision of the Executive Council of the African Union, at its forty-fourth session held in Addis Ababa on February 14 and 15, to approve the nomination of Dr. Khaled Al-Anani, Egypt’s candidate for the position of Director-General of the Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
Egypt considered that this accreditation represents important support for the Egyptian candidacy, especially after its approval by the Ministerial Council of the League of Arab States last year, which ensures the support of the Arab and African blocs for the Egyptian candidate.
